Steampunk Cthulhu Gentleman got a makeover!
My Steampunk Cthulhu Gentleman got a makeover! I was contacted by this lovely shop owner of Cthulhu Nation Motorcycle Cult. It seems that he is the organizer of a Motorcycle club that does a lot of charity work in Texas. Since his clubs name was Cthulhu Nation he thought my images would be a perfect fit for the redesign of their club patches. And he also wanted to make up some tee shirts to sell at charity functions they attend a couple times a year. Well, he had me at the word charity, and the request that my Cthulhu be remade with a monocle and swag bag all gentleman thief style. How could I possibly refuse that.

My Little Crow Painting
Summer is usually the worst time creatively for me. Right around the first of July, I enter into a funk that I just can’t shake until the first fall breezes tickle my face. But for some reason ideas just keep popping into my head. Along with that is an equally powerful drive to actually make those things. Usually the two never connect. Things that I have been meaning to make for years are suddenly manifesting on my workbench. It’s making me so happy. This little crow painting is the first of many projects that have been stewing in my brain for sometime. So happy to see one has popped out of my head into reality. A southern gothic design thing came over me an forced me to make it. No really I'm serious my creativity wouldn't let me work on anything else till it was done. Now that it is finished I'm very happy with the result.

Mr. Cthulhu in all his Steampunk Glory
I'm so excited !!! A few months ago I started a series of silhouette paintings. I decided to take my favorite characters from literature then transform them into silhouettes with a little Steampunk twist. So far on my drawing board I have Alice, Cheshire Cat, Colonel Brandon, and a few others. But today I finished my first and favorite... Mr. Cthulhu! It took me at least a month to get the wings just the way I wanted them. He is dressed as a distinguished Victorian gentleman with top hat, and high collard coat. Setting off his
tattered wings, and undulating tentacles nicely. He is lovely hand painted on canvas paper with accents painstakingly detailed in India ink. I then accentuated parts of him with a color of green that I image Cthulhu to be. After the painting was all finished I mounted it on a large ornate wooden plaque, and placed my favorite quote about him on the back to honor his creator

Fairytale Musings

Mystical, and romantic, and beautiful, and wondrous those are the thoughts that whirl around my head when I see Krista Hout's paintings. Her use of fairytale themes coupled with her unique use of color, and painting style makes images that warm the heart. Can I just live in one of her paintings please, please, please! I could make myself very comfortable in one of the little homes in the forest talking to deer and birds all day. I think im going to contact her and see if we can work something out.
